Hugo T Armstrong
Director
Bay City Events Director, Hugo was Artistic Director, Manager and Promoter of the Queenscliff Music Festival 1997 to 2005. During this time, they won the National Tourism Award for Best Festival Event category as well as winning the Victorian Tourism Award over three consecutive years, placing the QMF in the Victorian Tourism Hall of Fame.
Hugo had a popular weekly radio show on Melbourne radio station PBS 106.7FM for 21 years. He was also the Music Programmer for several other festivals, including the Echuca Winter Blues Festival. Additionally, he spearheaded the team that brought Geelong – Victoria’s second‐largest city – it’s first ever major music festival, Motor City Music Festival.
Hugo was awarded the Centenary of Federation Medal for service to the music industry and has an Advanced Diploma of Events and an Advanced Diploma of Management also a registered guard & crowd controller.
Carolyn ‘Cabs’ Anderson
Event Manager
Cabs has recently joined the team as our Venue/Events Manager, primarily running our most successful event – the Blues Train.
With a solid background in the music industry she’s been running her own successful business ‘Hiphipshebang’ since 2010.
An entrepreneur at heart and a keen follower of trends, she’s constantly exploring opportunities and new ideas, looking for niches or exciting ways to engage with customers, staff and performers to promote artists and improve business.
In recent years she’s proud that she’s been able to combine her love of live music & people into the business of facilitating fun!
Kate Leszyk
Office Manager
Kate is relatively new to the Surf Coast region, having moved from Melbourne in 2017.
When she’s not jumping out of airplanes around the Great Ocean Road, Kate joins us in the Bay City Events office as our Office Manager. You may also occasionally see her helping out the team on the Blues Train.
She comes to us with a background in Office Management, a Diploma in Work Health and Safety and a Certificate IV in Business Administration.
In 2015 Kate successfully organised and ran her own event in Torquay; Jump For M.S. – a skydiving event raising money for M.S. Research.
Kelly Speakman
Administration Officer
Kelly has grown up in Geelong and recently graduated from Deakin University with a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting.
She started with us as Event Staff on the Blues Train in 2017 before joining us in the Bay City Events office as an Administration Assistant.
When she’s not in the kitchen baking sweet treats for us to devour, you might be able to spot her smiling face down on the Blues Train making sure all our patrons have a fantastic night out!
