Bay City Events is run by the creators and 20+year operators of Queenscliff’s legendary Blues Train.
The Blues Train runs 44 shows a year and attracts over 8000 patrons to stay and play in Queenscliff and the Bellarine. Over 65,000 people have already travelled on Queenscliff’s famous Blues Train.
In addition to The Blues Train, Bay City Events operates the Motor City Music Festival, held each March at the Geelong showgrounds and the Winter Blues Train to Echuca in July.
Bay City Events also provides event management and artistic programming services for the Winter Blues Festival in Echuca, Royal Geelong Show, Geelong Revival Motoring Festival and Flying Brick Cider House.
So who is Bay City Events?
Bay City Events Director and MCMF producer, Hugo was Artistic Director, Manager and Promoter of the Queenscliff Music Festival 1997 to 2005. During this time, they won the National Tourism Award for Best Festival Event category as well as winning the Victorian Tourism Award over three consecutive years, placing the QMF in the Victorian Tourism Hall of Fame.
Hugo had a popular weekly radio show on Melbourne radio station PBS 106.7FM for 21 years. He is also the music programmer for several other festivals, including the Echuca Winter Blues Festival, now in its 15th year and spearheads the team bringing Geelong – Victoria’s second-largest city – it’s first ever major music festival.
Hugo was awarded the Centenary of Federation Medal for service to the music industry and has an Advanced Diploma of Events and an Advanced Diploma of Management also a registered guard & crowd controller.
Bay City Events General Manager and MCMF director and co-programmer, Chris has extensive experience in music, events, ticketing, marketing and event logistics.
He has held paid roles in a number of Victorian regional music festivals, at Ticketmaster, A Day on the Green and three years as membership manager at PBS 106.7FM. Chris also programs a range of festivals including the Echuca-Moama Winter Blues Festival, the Knox Festival (estimated 40,000 attendees) and Stringybark Suburban Sustainability Festival (approximately 25,000 attendees).
Chris was awarded the Australia Day Young Citizen of the Year award for the Queenscliff region for his contribution to the local community and music industry. Chris has an Advanced Diploma of Events, an Advanced Diploma of Management, a Diploma of Business and is a qualified Safety Officer in place of Public Entertainment
Bay City Event’s preferred writing & editing guru is Desiree. Désirée is an experienced arts administrator with stints working in film, theatre, festivals and events. Désirée often contributes to the marketing and promotion of Bay City Events, including input in media liaison, media releases and social media. Desiree has a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in theatre and film.
