Cameron Holmes & The Blues Dudes

May 26th

Cameron Holmes and The Blues Dudes have been a new addition to The Blues Train and have been successfully rocking out Carriage D with their own distinct sound. As they call it, Blues – Melbourne Style.Cameron Holmes & The Blues Dudes is a five-piece original blues outfit led by singer-songwriter-guitarist Cameron Holmes, accompanied by the talent of drummer Cale Burke, Bassist Sam Kent, Horns Sammy El Mariachi and harmonica player John Hunter.

Cameron Holmes began to his musical at age 7 with the flute, trombone, tuba and finally the guitar creating high school bands and later blues, funk and jazz band Dangerous Innersense releasing and EP “Dancing in Broken Glass”, an LP “No Messages from Leo”. After the band parted ways Cameron formed Lo-Lite which played many of Melbourne’s venues and released a self-titled EP “Lo-Lite”, an EP “Space Freak”, the  single “Sumo” after which the band was renamed One Bad Day. When the band went into hiatus Cameron began writing more moody solo material true to his classical roots utilising lap steel guitar with a less traditional sound A partnership with “Nicko” and six months rehearsal saw the release of a three track single “Opus in D“ and the outfit became known as Present Day Theory.

Travis Winter Band

May 27th

Joining The Blues Train this month is is 2016 MBAS Blues Challenge Finalists, Travis Winters Band.

Founded in late 2015 by Travis Winters initially with Craig Kelly on bass and Les Oldman on drums. In Spring 2016 the band began an eight week residency at The Water Rat in South Melbourne. Some back-filling for Les, due to prior commitments introduced Ben Lindsay to band and the current incarnation of the trio has taken shape.

The greasy, naturally funky grooves of this great rhythm section, coupled with some spicy, succulent and flavoursome guitar shenanigans makes the Travis Winters Band a unique sounding blues trio.

Travis is an entertaining, fun and confident front-man who brings a playfulness to the blues stage.Anyway, who said the blues has to be so damn serious?
